If we had a dollar for every time someone asks us ‘what’s the best?’ when choosing between timber flooring, laminate or bamboo, we’d be very wealthy flooring specialists!

The answer is: there is no easy answer. But we do have a few pointers to consider when making the decision.

We always ask our customers what is top of mind for them in choosing timber flooring – wow factor appearance, a quality product but within a specific budget, practicality – if it doesn’t have the necessary qualities to suit your space and lifestyle it isn’t going to look good for long!

There are heaps of factors to consider before you buy, from how much foot traffic the floor will get, comfort levels, humidity, size of your room, to the underlay and even the sound the timber floor makes.

So here’s our top pros and cons of the different types of flooring available:

Laminate flooring

Laminate flooring has come a long way in recent years in terms of design, look and feel and quality. Laminates are in fact digitally-printed images glued onto fibreboard, and with the realistic imagery these days, it’s often hard to spot the difference between real timber and higher-end laminates.
